1Is breedtools.app really free to start?
Yes. The Free plan includes up to 10 dogs, 1 active litter, weight tracking with 289 breed growth curves, health records, heat cycles, the whelping log, milestones, the pedigree chart, offline use, and CSV import — with no credit card required. Upgrade to Pro only when you need unlimited dogs, public puppy pages, buyers, contracts or finances.
2How is this different from the free tools on breedtools.com?
The breedtools.com tools (weight tracker, whelping calculator, heat cycle tracker, etc.) are single-purpose utilities that store data on one device. breedtools.app is a full breeding management platform: it keeps everything connected across litters and years, syncs across devices, adds buyer management and finances, and lets you publish shareable public puppy and stud pages.
3Can I migrate my data from the breedtools.com weight tracker?
Yes. Export your JSON or CSV from the weight tracker, then import it during onboarding. Historical weights, animals, groups and notes carry over so you don't start from zero.
4Does it work offline? What happens in the whelping room with no Wi-Fi?
It's a progressive web app with offline-first sync. You can log puppy weights, whelping notes, temperatures and photos in the whelping room without a connection. Changes sync automatically when you come back online.
5Who is it for — hobby breeders, pros, or both?
Both. Solo hobby breeders tracking their first litter get real value from the Free tier. Professional kennels run on Pro for public pages, buyer pipelines and per-litter P&L. Kennels with multiple staff use Premium Plus for role-based team access.
6Do I have to list my stud publicly?
No. Public stud profiles are opt-in per dog. If you do turn one on, the production record (conception rate, average litter size) is honest — no cherry-picking failed services. You can answer reviews and flag inappropriate ones, but you can't delete verified feedback.
7Can I cancel anytime? Do I keep my data?
Yes. Cancel from the billing portal at any time — no phone calls or retention queues. You can export everything to CSV or JSON at any point, on any plan, including Free.
8Is my data private? Who can see my kennel info?
Row-level security on every database table means only you (and your invited team members on Premium Plus) can read your kennel's records. Public puppy and stud pages only show what you explicitly choose to publish.
9Does it replace my vet or registration paperwork?
No — it complements them. The app generates go-home packets, contracts and PDF shipping manifests and tracks due dates for vaccines, progesterone tests and registrations. Actual medical decisions, progesterone interpretation and registry paperwork still go through your vet and your registry of choice.
10Do you offer a discount for annual plans or kennel teams?
Yes. Annual billing drops Pro to $79/year (equivalent to $6.58/mo) and Premium Plus to $159/year. Premium Plus includes 5 team seats at no extra cost — cheaper than running multiple individual Pro accounts.
